Dr. Derby-Davis was the chairperson for my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. The title of my thesis was “Decreasing Nurses Stress in the Emergency Room Utilizing Mindfulness Meditation.”

Dr. Derby-Davis was instrumental in the completion of this project, not just as my chairperson, but as a mindfulness meditation mentor as well. She was the perfect fit for me as my chair as she recognizes the importance of caring for oneself; physically, mentally and spiritually.

As I wrote in my acknowledgements within the published thesis: “To my chair, Dr. Derby-Davis, your patience and respect was instrumental to my success. I honor that sacred space we all have but so few share.” Andrea L. Entus, DNP

Since 2005 I have been seeing a therapist off and on. Whether it was to navigate life after my divorce, dealing with the passing of my father, failed relationships (friendship or romantic), or just navigating life and all the overlapping issues I accumulated over the years…the work is hard. Very hard.

I have to reach all the way back into my childhood to address the piles of shit that played a huge role in the person I’ve become…some parts I don’t like and determined to heal and correct. Unfortunately, there have been casualties over the years.

As I am on the journey of peeling back the stubborn layers to heal myself, I hope in time I can heal some broken relationships t hat was once very important to me. If not, well at least I can say I tried, but my number one priority is committing to the hard work of healing me.

Dr. Derby is a SOUL saver! Her kind and gentle approach has allowed me to maximize my fullest potential. The love and care that she openly gives allowed for me to be open and receptive to my feelings. If you are having a bad day and talk to her, rest assured you will be leaving the conversation feeling rejuvenated and loved!

She helped me remind myself of what I was missing in my life and as a result, the tools she has given me will never be forgotten! She truly has a gift. Thank you Dr. Derby for what you have done for me.

I am learning to focus on myself! Release control, I can only control myself and my actions. Heal myself, from childhood traumas, pain, disappointment, sexual partners, physical health and spiritual health. Take myself out of the situation that is making me uncomfortable. Do not allow FEAR to stop the must needed change that must happen to make the best decision for self. It is about learning all the tools needed to be the best version of yourself ,mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

I was so broken as the years went on, and I stayed. He was breaking me down everyday and I was still going back for more. It was an addiction more powerful than drugs. Addicted to being hurt by the person you love the most……It was the rock bottom that made the shift for me….I thank God for you. You will never understand how special you are to me.

I was in the darkest place of my life. I thought the sun would never shine again. I was depressed; I was a single mother in a new country. I was so depressed and no one cared about me. The only person that believed in me was Dr. Derby. She was the only one that saw my pain and my hurt. I would trust her with my life because she gave me a reason to live again. I would recommend her to everyone. Your journey is personal, your self-love is important. Now I am confident and happy and I continue to seek her even if I am in a better place. She taught me the importance of self-love and self-worth. I am finally happy. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Thank you for believing in me, thank you for saving my life. I am sharing my story because I want everyone to know that I am a real person. Look me up on social media.

I have been through the darkest of dark. I am seeing the light and I am coming out. Dr. DD has been by second mother. Without her love, support, and guidance I would still be in that dark place. I am so grateful to have her in my life as a mentor and guide. I support her in all her endeavors.

  • My connection with ZahariYah goes back a far way. I was at a deep dark place as an international student and she was my academic advisor. He words of encouragement helped me to make the decision to hold on to hopes and my dreams. Many years later as a health care professional our lives reconnected.

She has empowered me in so many ways in my personal and professional life.

In life you often convince yourself that you are healed from your greatest pain; but you might not be healed.

The sessions with ZahariYah has helped me to become at peace with the death of my mother, to let go the hurt from an unsupportive father and others who had hurt me in the past.

Though I had grown as a professional and experiencing a full life , there were things that a book cannot provide and I struggled with those emotions.

It takes a trained professional to tap into your emotions and pull out the dormant pain that blocks the flow of energy in your life.

Once those negative energies are cleared, the universe becomes open to you. All that you seek is also seeking you.

I continue to receive the spiritual counsel from her and she is available to help me make difficult decisions.

One of human’s biggest mistake is to try to address our emotional and spiritual issue alone. We go to the doctor to be cured from physiological issues, but believe that we can cure the spiritual and emotional issues by ourselves.

ZahariYah will be a blessing to your personal and professional growth. She can take you on a spiritual journey to find a part of you that is hidden and help you to unleash your true potential.
